Empowering Health-Focused Social Innovation with the Innovation Playbook

The Challenge

Vulnerable groups such as women and LGBTQ+ communities face significant barriers to accessing quality healthcare. Villgro Philippines needed to create a practical, step-by-step guide to help local organisations, governments, and institutions build ecosystems that support health-focused social innovation despite challenges like limited funding and a highly regulated sector.

The Objective

To create a comprehensive resource that helps organisations design and launch capacity-building programs, support startups at various stages, and scale impactful healthcare solutions.

The Solution

Our Ninjas played a key role in developing the Innovation Playbook:

  • Design: The playbook was designed to be visually engaging and easy to navigate, ensuring users could quickly access the tools and methodologies needed to foster health innovations. The document was crafted to guide organisations through every stage, from idea generation to scaling.

  • Digital Presence: To make the playbook easily accessible, we developed a dedicated landing page that highlighted its core features and benefits. We also produced a series of videos to explain key sections of the playbook, which were embedded on the landing page and shared across social media for broader engagement.

  • Content Editing: The playbook’s content was carefully edited to ensure clarity, consistency, and relevance. With a focus on making the tools actionable, we ensured that the language was simple, direct, and aligned with the diverse audiences it aimed to serve, from government agencies to NGOs and academic institutions.

  • Tools and Templates: The playbook includes practical templates and resources that users can implement directly in their programmes, such as strategies for convening events, designing incubation programs, and creating access to funding for health innovations.

The Impact

  • Capacity Building: Empowered local organisations and institutions to launch and scale social innovation programs effectively.

  • Pipeline Growth: Increased the number of health-focused innovations targeting underserved communities.

  • Scalability: Enabled startups to advance from problem-solution fit to scaling solutions with the right tools and funding access.

  • Positive Health Outcomes: Contributed to improved healthcare access and equity for vulnerable populations, including women and LGBTQ+ communities.

Through strategic design, content, and technical support, the playbook is now a key resource for building sustainable health innovation ecosystems.
